Spotlight

Our spotlight this month is all about learning from our readers.  We want to know what you think of our emails and how you think they can be better.  We've set-up a simple and quick form on our website you can fill out to let us know how we're doing and what kind of stories you'd like to see in the future. We're not taking names or email addresses so feel free to be honest and suggest what you like.  Constructive criticism if any, hopefully!  Thanks!

Breaking Down 'Marketing'

There's a definite shift these days away from just thinking about 'advertising' and, instead, implementing 'marketing'.  It brings more strategy to the table.  More planning.  Covers more bases and involves every aspect of what an ad agency is, or should be capable of.

With everything that is marketing, it's not so simple to use the word by itself.  Technology has brought many new types of marketing forth.  Marketing with social or psychological sense changes the game as well.  So we've put together a tidy little blog post serving as a glossary of such marketing types and descriptions of what all they encompass.  From 'cause marketing' to 'permission marketing', hopefully we'll help you grasp a new understanding of what's popular in the marketing world today.  Click here to check it out.

Traction is proud to annouce ANOTHER addition to our staff!  Tanner Tate recently jumped on board to help churn out top-notch, award-winning, cash register-ringing creative, copy and content generation.  After a year and some change in the OKC ad biz, we're excited to bring him under our wing and quickly mold him into the Tractioneer we know he was meant be.  Next time you're close to the warehouse, stop by and get to know the newbie or simply drop him a line of encouragement here.

Let's Get Things Done.

There's an influx of online applications geared toward enhancing productivity that are taking the nation by storm.  We here at Traction are using a number of these daily or weekly to help organize our work and/or personal lives, and it's a definite leg-up on people who aren't privy to the technology yet.

With that said, we're letting our readers in on these sites we use.  Knowledge is power and we're sharing our power!  Grab some here.

Are You LinkedIn?

What is LinkedIn?
LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003 mainly used for professional networking. As of December 2007, its site traffic was 3.2 million visitors per month, growing at an astonishing annual growth rate of about 485%. As of March 2008, it had more than 20 million registered users, spanning 150 industries.

Why should you be on LinkedIn?
The purpose of the site is to allow registered users to maintain a list of contact details of people they know and trust in business. The people in the list are called Connections. Users can invite anyone (whether a site user or not) to become a connection.

This list of connections can then be used in a number of ways:

  • A contact network is built up consisting of their direct connections, the connections of each of their connections (termed second degree connections) and also the connections of second degree connections (termed third degree connections). This can be used to gain an introduction to someone you wish to know through a mutual, trusted contact.
  • It can then be used to find jobs, people and business opportunities recommended by someone in one's contact network.
  • Employers can list jobs and search for potential candidates.
  • Job seekers can review the profile of hiring managers and discover which of their existing contacts can introduce them.

We encourage all our readers to 'get to know one another' by starting their FREE account and using us as a central hub to connect and network.  You can find some of our profiles with the following links.  Tyler Smith - Randy Nichols - Jill Farrand - Myka Gilliam - Tanner Tate
